Facts
6-APB, also called Benzofury, is a research chemical that appeared on the Dutch drug market around 2010. The drug is sold as a pill and as a powder. In powder form it is usually white in color, sometimes brownish or beige. 6-APB is a party drug related to MDMA, MDA and amphetamine. According to users, the effect resembles a combination of the sharpness of cocaine and the social nature of MDMA/XTC. Some users describe a mild hallucinogenic effect.

HOW IS IT USED?
6-APB can be swallowed (in a drink, in a capsule, as a pill or wrapped in rolling paper) or snorted. Users usually experience sniffing as very unpleasant. Some insert it anally.
6-APB stimulates the release of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain and then blocks the reuptake of these substances.

RESEARCH ON HEALTH RISKS
6-APB has only been on the market for a few years. There is no research data on the short- and long-term consequences. We can therefore only base ourselves on user experiences. 6-APB is not an illegal drug in the Netherlands that falls under the Opium Act. The quality of drugs sold as 6-APB is unreliable in terms of strength and composition. This is reported on consumer sites.

Operation
The effects of 6-APB are similar to those of XTC. Although there are also differences according to the trip reports. 6-APB, like XTC, has both mind-altering and stimulating effects, but the mind-altering effects seem stronger with 6-APB than with XTC. Users also say that they feel slightly 'sharper/more alert' than with XTC. Consumers' appreciation of 6-APB ranges from very enthusiastic to very negative. After use it takes about an hour for it to work. The peak then lasts for about four to six hours, after which the effects diminish somewhat. Users indicate that the effect can come back in bursts. Therefore, be careful with any additional supplements! The (after) effects can last up to 12 hours. Many people have difficulty sleeping or cannot sleep after 6-APB.

DOSE
Below is a guideline for dosing 6-APB. We assume pure substances.

To swallow:

Light: 30-75 mg
Average: 75-125 mg
High: 125+ mg
Above 125 mg there are reports of very long-lasting and severe effects. However, these are user experiences and not scientific facts. The purity and strength may differ per batch. There are also individual differences, such as mood and weight.
